Univerus Acquires Emtel to Expand Mapping Solutions and Strengthen Presence in New Zealand and Australia

Burnaby, BC – September 29, 2025 – Univerus, a leader in enterprise software, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Emtel, a New Zealand-based provider of innovative mapping and geospatial technology. This strategic acquisition reinforces Univerus’ commitment to advancing its mapping capabilities and delivering specialized GIS solutions to public sector organizations and enterprises worldwide. 


Emtel is the creator of InfoMap, an intuitive web mapping application built on open-source GIS technology. Designed for users of all experience levels, InfoMap streamlines the way spatial data is created and shared, offering flexibility to work with multiple data sources while maintaining a simple, user-friendly interface. It has become a trusted tool for councils across New Zealand to manage and publish geographic information efficiently. 


With Emtel’s demonstrated expertise in public sector GIS requirements and local government workflows, Univerus will:
